At long last, shipper 1.0

Here at Eric Conspiracy Secret Labs, we ship no code before its time. Even if that means letting it stay in beta for, er, nearly twelve years. But at long last I believe my shipper tool is ready for the world.

Since I’ve already described shipper in detail I won’t rehearse its features again. Suffice it to say that if you’re the kind of hacker who ships point releases more often than about once a week, and you’re tired of all the fiddly handwork that implies, you want this more badly than you know.

    1. >Nice prosaic logo. I guess a picture of Kirk and Spock together would have trademark problems… 3:)

You are an evil person. You know that, right?

  1. FWIW, I like that little truck. Not as pretty as the Blue Sturgeon of Doom, but definitely more pleasant than Deheader’s scary guillotine.
(As for the software itself, I’m no programmer—yet—, so I can’t comment on that.)

    1. >ObMeta: Did you use shipper 1.0 to ship itself?

Of course I did. In fact shipper has been shipping itself since 0.3.

  2. There’s a minor typo in the last paragraph of the “Description” section of the manpage: “wilcard” rather than “wildcard”.

  3. OT: Eric – is there a reason you are sticking with gittip for donations rather than embracing bitcoin?

    1. >OT: Eric – is there a reason you are sticking with gittip for donations rather than embracing bitcoin?

gittip has a different function – it’s for continuing micropatronage rather than one-time payments.

Setting up a bitcoin link is on my to-do list.

    1. >How many shippers could a shipper ship if a shipper could ship shippers?

Exactly 23, to date. Read the NEWS file.

  4. >…Kirk and Spock…

I was thinking Harry x Hermione, or perhaps Ichigo x Rukia. I guess I’m younger, but I’m definitely not as “progressive”…

  5. So, Shipper ships software that does not ship itself, yet Shipper ships itself…seems that the “barber who shaves” paradox ought to be in there somewhere…..

I posted on G+ that shipper is not the confused barber.
