Penguicon Party Preannouncement

No details yet, but this is a heads-up: I will be at Penguicon 2013, 26-28 April in Pontiac Michigan…and there will be a second annual paty for friends of Armed & Dangerous (or FOAD – now where have I seen that before?)

  1. May I also chime in and say that we will also be repeating Geeks with Guns this year. Details are still TBD; I’m trying to get a range where we can shoot long arms as well as handguns. (Possibly outdoors.)

Plan on early Friday afternoon the 26th. If you were with us last year, and I have your email, I will keep you updated as it develops. For anyone who was not able to attend previously, please email guns@penguicon.org to let me know your interest.

(WCC and Jessica Boxer, I’m looking at you!)

  2. John, If I recall correctly, Double Action in Madison Heights will allow long arms at their indoor range, and while a few miles down the road (I-75 wise) may be worthwhile.

  3. Would invitation to the Friends of Armed and Dangerous party extend only to those who’ve been regulars for a while, or also to those who just recently started lurking as well? Or would it be an open event where anyone attending Penguicon who isn’t being rude or disruptive is welcome to stop by?

No, recent lurkers will also be welcome. It’s not going to be a private party, so we’ll have some of the general run of Penguicon drifting in and out.

  4. Unlike last year, I will not have a prior engagement. Gonna try to make this one.

GwG: Hope it’s not BYOF. (I don’t expect to shoot unless I brought it, but I figure I might hang out and learn some interesting things.)

  5. @Paul Brinkley –

Not sure yet about BYOF. Last year, there was handgun rental available, but so many people brought such a variety of interesting shooting irons that all we had to buy was the lane rentals, targets, and ammo.

If we are outdoors, there probably would _not_ be rental guns available. Shoot me an email to “guns@penguicon.org” so that I have your email address, and I’ll “keep you in the loop.”

[ @esr – I hope you don’t mind if we discuss GwG here. Or would you rather that we move the traffic to my blog? Please advise. ]

This is a ukase from the blog owner: GwG is always on topic.

  6. @ALL_SHOOTERS –

The first general email announcement of the details for GwG has gone out. If you didn’t get it, and want to attend, please email “guns@penguicon.org”, and I’ll hook you up.

  7. Much as I’d like to, too much sprung up here, so I’ll have to pass again this year. Harumph. Hope to see an after-event report, though!
